I have always considered myself as fairly fit. I enjoy jogging every weekend with a couple of friends and I also go to the Gym a couple of times a week where I regularly use the Crosstrainer and the Ergometer. An Ergometer is an indoor rowing machine which primarily works the cardiovascular systems with typical workouts consisting of between 20-40 minutes and is often referred to as a strength endurance sport. Ergometer tests are used by rowing coaches to evaluate rowers and are part of athlete selection for many senior and junior national rowing teams. The most common rowing-machine design consists of a flywheel connected to a chain and handle. The rower pushes his body backwards with the legs, then pivots his back and pulls on the handle causing the flywheel to spin.
A Cross Trainer can be used to target different parts of the body as well as tone and tighten all over. I have also tried running and step machines and cycling etc, but I find the cross trainer is the best way for me to burn up calories and get fitter in the gym. Since using the Cross trainer and Ergometer I have lost quite a lot of weight and feel much fitter than I did before.

I first started using a Cross Trainer and Ergometer after I came back from a holiday in America. I had always wanted to go to Florida and visit the Kennedy Space Centre. It was an amazing holiday and after visiting Disneyland we booked a trip to the Space Centre. We were shown all around and saw lots of films connected to the Space program particularly the landing on the moon. We saw different parts of the rockets that were used and equipment that the astronaughts used in space. One thing that really interested me was the equipment that the astronaughts had used to build up their fitness levels. Among the many displays were a Cross Trainer and an Ergometer. That was the first time I had ever seen them and it made me realise how fit the astronaughts had to be. We spent a full day at the Kennedy Space Centre and took lots of pictures and videos beside the massive space rockets on display.
On getting back home I realised that although I considered myself fairly fit I could get much fitter if I started going to the gym and exercising on the Cross Trainer and the Ergometer. At first I found it very difficult to use these two machines but the more I persevered the easier I found it and now I have no problem whatsoever.
My two friends also like to use the Cross Trainer and the Ergometer and after a good workout at the gym we all feel much better. Going to the gym and using these two machines has made a big difference to my fitness levels and know that without my visit to the Space Centre and seeing these machines that the astronaughts worked out on I would never have thought about using them.
Next year I have booked to go to America again and shall certainly make a return visit to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. I am going with my two friends who are just as excited as I am. Even though I spent a full day at the Space Centre there were such a lot of things that I didn’t really have time to see and I can’t wait to point out to my friends the Cross Trainer and the Ergometer that were used for astronaught fitness. I don’t think for one minute that I can ever be as fit as the astronaughts were but it’s nice to think that these men built up their fitness by using the very same machines as people are using everyday in the Gyms which are now available to anybody. People nowadays can keep fit so easy and it is even possible to purchase the Cross Trainer and the Ergometer for use in your very own home. My neighbour has recently purchased a Cross Trainer and is delighted with how much fitter and slimmer she has become so easily.
